Classic Stitches, Issue No 91,
Following on from the success of her last book, Austrailian designer Alison Cole continues with her goldwork theme with this title.
As before stumpwork is incorporated into the designs too. Full instructions accompany each project and the lovely photgraphy enhances the pages.
There are early chapters on techniques and materials so that those less experienced in the craft can find out what they need to know before beginning on the the stunning projects.
There are eleven projects varying in size and degree of difficulty and there is no doubt this is aimed at the serious hand embroiderer.
Even if you only stitch one of these designs it will have earned its place on your bookshelf.
The Workbox, Dec/Jan 2009,
The Midas Touch is Alison Cole’s second book featuring the techniques of Goldwork and Stumpwork.
This lavish soft cover publication continues on in the style of her first book All That Glitters - having sections dedicated to Basic Supplies and Requirements, Techniques and eleven projects – ranging from small beginners pieces to larger, more challenging designs. Once again, the book is laid out with clear diagrams, colour photographs and hints and tips, making it a worthy addition to the embroiderer’s bookshelf.
